Hi everyone.

I've sourced a 5 metre length of 6 inch (¼ thick) 6082T6 tubing to build a junk mast, but wondering if it would be overkill to insert a cross piece of timber inside the mast (2 6 inch planks slotted together to form an X), maybe two metres in length, perhaps with a very slight taper? I plan to fit the mast to a wooden tabernacle like Annie Hill's. 

Thoughts?
