Hi,
Please excuse the impersonal message, but it appears desirable to pass this information to many people by individual emails.
On Saturday morning 3/1/25 at about 8:00am GMT my Tiscali email account was hacked/kidnapped, and without my knowledge the guilty party appears to have sent out a mail to a lot of people who have written to me over the past 30 years. The message suggested that I had lost my voice and needed help, and those who responded to it were asked to buy an Amazon voucher for John Lewis for a ‘friend’. This was all total fiction and simply a method of them collecting money.
Please do not buy any vouchers or spend money on my behalf, as it is all fiction.
Since then I have been able to erase the tap on my Tiscali email account and change the password, so the account should be back to normal, though it is not clear if the guilty party is still able to impersonate me and my mail.
I would suggest that in future you all use my gmail account with the address – slievemcg@gmail.com – which seems to be clear of such malpractice.
I am sorry if anyone has been inconvenienced by this but as you will understand it was quite outside my control, and could happen to anyone.
Despite all of this, may I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year,
Slieve.
