Ten year ago a friend of mine gave me an autobiography, “Blondie”, written by Ewen Southerby-Tailour. Frankly, I didn’t find it to be great literature, even though the subject, Hasler and his life, was of interest to me. What saved the book, was some pieces of text written by Blondie Hasler himself, for instance in his ‘social log’ on board Jester.
Now, again, when reading Hasler’s story from his and his wife’s trip in Pilmer, it strikes me what a good storyteller and writer he was. He should have had a desk in Cruising World instead of producing oats and potatoes...
