I've sent some photos from the 2009 rally in the Solent which show up to 7 different JR boats in one wide shot. It was quite a nice sunny day, so it mght look a bit more cheerful and a relief for Arne from the Scandinvian gloom of approaching winter. The bad news is that one of the boats had just lost its foremast, or at least the top half, perhaps not the ideal recommendation for strangers to JR! There are perfectly good explanations for this rare event, but they don't appear in the photos... Maybe I could Photoshop the evidence out if the shot is generally OK :-)

I’m not entirely happy with that header photo. I bet it was taken at the JRA rally in Stavanger Saturday 19th August 2006, early in the day. Zillions of photos have been taken from the Stavanger rallies in bright sunshine, so why choosing that dark (and under-exposed?) one?

With some luck the link below will bring you to the photo section of the Yahoo JR Forum. There you can see for yourself.

Personally, I rather like it. Dark and gloomy, just like Europe. Contrasts what you have with what you could have (the tropical island) :-)

It's very easy to get an email address from Google. Does not cost you anything, you do not have to reveal any personal information and if it suits, just use it to get onto the site and nothing else.

That being said, I cannot image why anyone would not want an email address in the 21st century. Used wisely it is no security problem at all and that's the only possible reason that I could think of not to have an email address. Of cause if you do not have a PC....

    Hi Arne,
I'm not happy with it either. I asked some time ago for people to send me a better one, without result. I would like a photo with good light and lots of colour,  in a wide, low format suitable for the header, and with several junkrigged boats of different kinds, sailing together. If you would like to find such a photo and send it to me I would be most grateful.

    David

As said, zillions of photos have been taken, but it isn’t quite as easy to find such a string of different boats. Would it be an idea to see if brightness could be adjusted up a bit on the existing photo? As it is, it looks as if it were taken late in the evening, but it must have been taken between 10 and 11 AM.

It's brilliant to see that Arne's wonderful articles and drawings are now so easily accessible.  How much easier it is now - especially for those people newly discovering his work - to find all this good information.  I hope that more people will send good stuff to be uploaded onto the site.
