I can't find it either, John. It looks as though she's now sold, or the listing has expired and she hasn't yet been re-listed.

Hello Asmat, I’m interested in this boat, but can’t find it anywhere on EBay! Could you possibly send me a link to the page?

    Thank you,
    John Booth

A Freedom 21, shoal draught version with lifting twin keels, has just appeared on ebay UK, asking £2750 including a road trailer. If I didn't already have a boat in the garden, I'd be mighty interested.

I've converted a Freedom 33 cat ketch to a junk rig successfully, and the sails are now well balanced.

Most of the larger single masted Freedom's have a small fractional jib and a huge, roachy main, looking in profile like a Hobiecat rig. I'd expect those boats to need a junk sail with a LOT of balance, perhaps something like Slieve's split rig.

Depending upon how the F21 balances with just the main (I'm not clear--do some of them have jibs?), you could probably make a junk rig with very little balance, and have the CE placed similarly to the original rig....or easily move it well forward of the main sail alone.

I'd recommend looking to other F21 owners and finding out how they sail with a small jib.

Hi, as well as my search for a suitable 30 footer for conversion, I have found a Freedom 21 on trailer for ridiculous low price and am thinking of this as an interim boat.

Has anyone converted one of these smaller single mast boats to junk?  I once spent a lot of money to survey and fly to a Freedom 30 ketch in the UK and left the sea trial appalled at how poorly it sailed.

Would the mast be in the correct location to take a junk rig given that the Freedom rig has all the area aft of the mast and a big roach VS the junk rig carries balance area forward of mast.

Also I assume the junk rig will be heavier with yard, battens, more industrial fittings and cloth weight.  Given it is recommend to make the junk rig larger for light winds due to being able to reef quickly, will the F21 have the stability.

The F21 is a great camper boat with good performance.  If the boat had NO rig reflected in the price then this would be a no brainer.  But it has a good rig including simplified spinnaker.

I guess I am looking for a comment from someone who did this and said it was a great conversion.

    Thanks.
